As you can see the kids bikes and toys in front of the house. I figure, why not show you how my life is on a normal day not a "pinterest perfect" home... we are far from that!!

Potted Hostas (excuse my dirty porch.. I have not washed it yet.. again not "pinterest perfect"
Our puppy.. okay he is not a puppy anymore.. Frasier is our 2 year old boxer.

Outside Beauty!

This past week I have spent most of my time working in my yard. Love it love it. Since we purchased our home two years ago,we haven't done much to our yard besides mowing and a few flowers. This year we went crazy! We purchased over 30 conifers to line our back yard with, a couple maple trees, blueberry bushes, blackberry bushes, elderberry and a couple rose of sharons.

Saturday I did some flower shopping! I stopped at this local mennonite greenhouse that has amazing annuals and perennials at great prices.

Marigolds for in front of my girls playhouse.

The girls peeking out of the window! :)

These beautiful orange colored Kordana Roses my husband and girls bought me for Mother's Day. I planted them right away!

I loved the Kordana Roses so much I went and bought another one in pink!

This was my weekend fun! Buying and planting my beautiful flowers. I had a lot of fun picking out the flowers I wanted and planting wasn't to bad! Hope everyone had a wonderful weekend and to the Mothers out there, hope you had a nice Mother's Day!!!!

Homemade exfoliating scrubs

Hey beauties! Today I want to share with you some homemade exfoliating scrubs. My skin is so dry from the winter and really needs a good exfoliation. I have purchased exfoliators, expensive and affordable brands and have not seen much of a difference in my skin, mostly the skin on my face. I have terrible dry patches..ugh they drive me nuts! So I went on a search for something more natural and homemade that I can use on my skin.

Here is what I have found and have tried.

Soothing Oatmeal Scrub (simple scrub)
1 tablespoon of ground Oatmeal
Pinch of salt
1 teaspoon of warm milk (milk should be warmed up and comfortable to touch)

Mix ingredients together to form a paste. Apply and rub in circular motion (this helps to remove the dead skin) into your skin. Let sit for 5 to 10 mins. Rinse with warm water then again with cold water. Follow with your favorite moisturizer.

Nourishing Oatmeal Face Scrub
1 teaspoon Milk (whole milk preferably)
1 teaspoon Honey
1 teaspoon Extra Virgin Olive Oil
Mix these ingredients together then add
1 tablespoons of ground Oatmeal

Leave paste in bowl for 3-5 minutes to let the oatmeal soften. When softened gently massage into skin for 1-2 minutes. Let sit for 5-10 minutes. Rinse with warm water and then with cold water. This scrub is great! It exfoliates, softens and moisturizes your skin.

When I made this scrub I made too much so I stored the extra in an air tight container and stored it in the fridge. It will only last up to 3 days, so you can use it again then. One thing to remember is you should only exfoliate your skin up to two times a week.
Oatmeal before ground
 Oatmeal grounded up
 Honey, Olive Oil and Milk
Combine oatmeal and honey, olive oil and milk together and apply
and with my oatmeal scrub on :)  haha my kids thought this was pretty funny.

Brown Sugar Facial Scrub
This scrub is less harsh on your skin then the oatmeal scrub.. if you have sensitive skin you may want to start with the brown sugar scrub.

 1/2 cup of honey
1/2 cup brown sugar
1 tablespoon olive or coconut oil
1 drop of essential oil (I used lavender)

Mix ingredients together. Apply to skin and massage in a circular motion. Rinse with warm water, follow with a moisturizer.

Here is a homemade scrub for your entire body! Love this as well and smells amazing!

Lavender Sugar Body Scrub
1 cup sugar ( I used brown sugar)
1/2 cup coconut oil
5 drops of Lavender essential oils
Mix sugar and coconut oil in a bowl or in a jar, add in your lavender oil. No need to moisturize after, coconut oil is a great moisturizer!

I have not tried the body scrub yet.
I am going to make it this week and will add pictures to the post and let you know how I like it!

Exfoliating Tips
*Skin renews itself in the night, so morning is the best time to exfoliate
*Remember to only exfoliate 1-2 times a week, over exfoliating may tear the skin.
* Exfoliate before shaving!

Have you made homemade exfoliating scrubs? If so, what recipes have you used? Please share!!! There are so many out there and for so many uses..
