 Home Sweet Home
 As you can see the kids bikes and toys in front of the house. I figure, why not show you how my life is on a normal day not a "pinterest perfect" home... we are far from that!!

 Potted Hostas (excuse my dirty porch.. I have not washed it yet.. again not "pinterest perfect"
 Our puppy.. okay he is not a puppy anymore.. Frasier is our 2 year old boxer.

So here is my Home Beauty Edition!!! Hope you enjoyed it and had a wonderful weekend as well!!

Outside Beauty!

This past week I have spent most of my time working in my yard. Love it love it. Since we purchased our home two years ago,we haven't done much to our yard besides mowing and a few flowers. This year we went crazy! We purchased over 30 conifers to line our back yard with, a couple maple trees, blueberry bushes, blackberry bushes, elderberry and a couple rose of sharons.

Saturday I did some flower shopping! I stopped at this local mennonite greenhouse that has amazing annuals and perennials at great prices.

Marigolds for in front of my girls playhouse.

The girls peeking out of the window! :)

Regal Geraniums
Hostas

In front of my porch I planted two Hosta plants and two Regal Geraniums..I am thinking about getting one more of the Geraniums to fill in some more.

Viola's around my amazing "Horse Statue" Hahaha this thing cracks me up!

 These beautiful orange colored Kordana Roses my husband and girls bought me for Mother's Day. I planted them right away!

I loved the Kordana Roses so much I went and bought another one in pink!

This was my weekend fun! Buying and planting my beautiful flowers. I had a lot of fun picking out the flowers I wanted and planting wasn't to bad! Hope everyone had a wonderful weekend and to the Mothers out there, hope you had a nice Mother's Day!!!!

Homemade exfoliating scrubs

Hey beauties! Today I want to share with you some homemade exfoliating scrubs. My skin is so dry from the winter and really needs a good exfoliation. I have purchased exfoliators, expensive and affordable brands and have not seen much of a difference in my skin, mostly the skin on my face. I have terrible dry patches..ugh they drive me nuts! So I went on a search for something more natural and homemade that I can use on my skin.

Here is what I have found and have tried.

Soothing Oatmeal Scrub (simple scrub)
1 tablespoon of ground Oatmeal
Pinch of salt
1 teaspoon of warm milk (milk should be warmed up and comfortable to touch)

Mix ingredients together to form a paste. Apply and rub in circular motion (this helps to remove the dead skin) into your skin. Let sit for 5 to 10 mins. Rinse with warm water then again with cold water. Follow with your favorite moisturizer.

Nourishing Oatmeal Face Scrub
1 teaspoon Milk (whole milk preferably)
1 teaspoon Honey
1 teaspoon Extra Virgin Olive Oil
Mix these ingredients together then add
1 tablespoons of ground Oatmeal

Leave paste in bowl for 3-5 minutes to let the oatmeal soften. When softened gently massage into skin for 1-2 minutes. Let sit for 5-10 minutes. Rinse with warm water and then with cold water. This scrub is great! It exfoliates, softens and moisturizes your skin.

When I made this scrub I made too much so I stored the extra in an air tight container and stored it in the fridge. It will only last up to 3 days, so you can use it again then. One thing to remember is you should only exfoliate your skin up to two times a week.
Oatmeal before ground
 Oatmeal grounded up
 Honey, Olive Oil and Milk
Combine oatmeal and honey, olive oil and milk together and apply
and with my oatmeal scrub on :)  haha my kids thought this was pretty funny.

Brown Sugar Facial Scrub
This scrub is less harsh on your skin then the oatmeal scrub.. if you have sensitive skin you may want to start with the brown sugar scrub.

 1/2 cup of honey
1/2 cup brown sugar
1 tablespoon olive or coconut oil
1 drop of essential oil (I used lavender)

Mix ingredients together. Apply to skin and massage in a circular motion. Rinse with warm water, follow with a moisturizer.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Here is a homemade scrub for your entire body! Love this as well and smells amazing!
Lavender Sugar Body Scrub
1 cup sugar ( I used brown sugar)
1/2 cup coconut oil
5 drops of Lavender essential oils
Mix sugar and coconut oil in a bowl or in a jar, add in your lavender oil. No need to moisturize after, coconut oil is a great moisturizer!
I have not tried the body scrub yet.
I am going to make it this week and will add pictures to the post and let you know how I like it!
Exfoliating Tips
*Skin renews itself in the night, so morning is the best time to exfoliate
*Remember to only exfoliate 1-2 times a week, over exfoliating may tear the skin.
* Exfoliate before shaving!
Have you made homemade exfoliating scrubs? If so, what recipes have you used? Please share!!! There are so many out there and for so many uses..
Ipsy Glam Bag (April)
I am back with another Ipsy Glam Bag!
Ipsy Glam Bag is a monthly beauty subscription of $10 plus shipping. You will receive around 5 items, full size and trial samples. Here is what came in this months Glam Bag.
Elizabeth Mott Pop! Shadow in Champagne.. retails for $12.99
This color is really pretty, I have worn it the last 3 days and can not get enough of it. You could even use it as a highlighter if you wanted too. Very please with this eyeshadow, easy to apply and does not crease.
Urban Decay 24/7 Velvet Glide-on eye pencil.  Retails for $20.00
Great eye liner! It applies like a velvet dream! This pencil smudges easily and blends well to create the soft edges for the smokey eye look. I also love that it is a dark matte black, the color payoff is amazing!
On the left is the Urban Decay eye pencil again..on the right is
Starlooks Luscious Longwear Lip Pencil in the shade Naked. Retails for $14.00
Not my favorite color in the world.. I wouldn't say it is a nude color either. To me it is more of a coral color. I wore it today and it applied very smooth and last quite awhile. It also matches the bareMinerals lipstick I recieved in my last months Ipsy Glam Bag so that's a bonus!
The dr. brandt microdermabrasion skin exfoliant retails for $78.00(full size) product in ipsy glam bag is a sample.
I have really dry skin in the winter..I have not been able to find anything to eliminate the dryness. I used this this morning and my skin felt great after using it. Still had the dry skin but it was first day using it. The directions say to use 1 or 2 times a week so I will wait a few days and do it again and see how well it works.
(Pictured in the first photo)
Coastal Scents Medium Eyeshadow brush. $2.49.
I really like this brush high quality and the bristles are very soft.
Hope you all had a wonderful Easter/Sunday! If you are interested in joining ipsy click here ipsy
Ulta Haul..
Happy Saturday, the sun is up but still a little on the chilly side.
I purchased a few things from Ulta this past week that I have been interested in and needing.
I seen some reviews on the Butter Glosses from Nyx and thought I would try them out. Great collection, love all the colors and I will be purchasing more!There are 22 color to choose from in the collection all with desert like names.
 I purchased the colors Angle Food Cake, is a true mauve and Sugar Cookie is a bright fuchsia , they kind of smell like their titles. They feel really creamy on your lips and have a nice shin and pigment.
Sugar Cookie
(I lost the picture of Angel Food Cake.. I will add it in later today)
NYX Baked Blush in Journey-soft pink. Beautiful light pink sheer color, gives your skin a nice natural glow and can be used to highlight. The top is a bit hard to start with so you may need to a build up the color a little or wet a sponge to apply. Once you get through the surface you will have a better color payoff.
 And the cute packaging..love the little bow!
NYX Baked Blush in Journey- I had a hard time taking a picture of this blush.. this is in direct sunlight
NYX Eyeshadow Cake Powder in Blonde includes two eyebrow shades light taupe and ash blonde, wax, slanted brush and a small spooly. I definitely was in need of product for my eyebrows. I was using a light brown eyeshadow but I needed to step up my beauty game and pick up the right products for my eyebrows. I am very pleased with this powder, very easy to apply with the slanted brush. If you are looking for an affordable eyebrow product, I would would definitely recommend the NYX eyeshadow powder.
BareMinerals Frame and Define Brow Styler in Light. I wanted an eyebrow pencil so I can have more of a defined eyebrow look. This pencil works pretty well and blends well with the NYX  Cake Powder.
And lastly I purchased Physicians Formula Happy Booster Glow & Mood Boosting Powder in beige.
LOOVE this product.. It gives your skin a wonderful glow, it's smooth and the different color pallet give you a more evened out skin tone.
Physicians Formula: on the left is the pink color from the palette and the right is pretty beige bronzer colors mixed together. (yes goosebumps hehe)
I hope you all enjoy your weekend and Happy Easter!!!!!
